Connect Five Friday : Library

This Friday is National Library Day ! Some my Five Books will have Library in the title or mystery taken place at the Library.

I work part time as the Liberian in our small town . It’s a labor of love and a way to help the kids and adults in my community.

From the Library collection:

With her twins, Fitzgerald and Hemingway, back in school, Jane Steward can finally focus on her work again—managing Storyton Hall, and breaking ground on the resort’s latest attraction: a luxurious, relaxing spa named in honor of Walt Whitman. But when the earth is dug up to start laying the spa’s foundation, something else comes to the surface—a collection of unusual bones and the ragged remnants of a very old book. The attendees of the Rare Book Conference are eager to assist Jane with this unexpected historical mystery—until a visitor meets an untimely end in the Henry James Library. As the questions—and suspects—start stacking up, Jane will have to uncover a killer before more unhappy endings ensue . . .

Rain Wilmot has just returned to her family’s waterfront log cabin in Lofty Pines, Wisconsin after the untimely death of her husband. The cabin is peaceful compared to Rain’s corporate job and comes with an informal library that Rain’s mother, Willow, used to run. But as Rain prepares for the re-opening of the library, all hopes for a peaceful life are shattered when she discovers the body of Thornton Hughes, a real estate buyer, on the premises.

The community of Lofty Pines starts pointing fingers at Willow, since she has been unusually absent from the library this summer. A fishy rumor surfaces when Rain learns that Willow had been spending a lot of time with Thornton. The town even thought they were having an affair.

While theories swirl about Thornton’s death, Rain takes it upon herself to solve the case to exonerate her mother. As more clues surface, Rain will have to piece together the mystery. But if she isn’t careful, she may be the next to end up dead in the water in Murder at the Lakeside Library, the first in Holly Danvers’ new Lakeside Library mysteries.

It’s National Library Week, and the Athena Public Library is planning an exhibit to honor the centenary of famous novelist Electra Barnes Cartwright—creator of the beloved Veronica Thane series.

Charlie has a soft spot for Cartwright’s girl detective stories (not to mention an extensive collection of her books!). When the author agrees to make a rare public appearance, the news of her whereabouts goes viral overnight, and series devotees and book collectors converge on Athena.

After all, it’s rumored that Cartwright penned Veronica Thane stories that remain under wraps, and one rabid fan will stop at nothing—not even murder—to get hold of the rare books…

Heather Redding is the library director in the seaside town of Peachtree Point, New Hampshire. She and her friend and colleague, Sylvie, are helping with the town’s first romance writers conference. The conference organizers wanted a well-known author to be the keynote speaker, but their budget wasn’t big enough for their first choice. Instead, they invite Fiona Fulbright who comes with a pile of baggage and trouble. When someone collapses and dies in front of the conference-goers, will Heather, Sylvie, and Heather’s sister, Joanna, the town’s Sheriff’s Deputy, solve the crime before the culprit gets away with murder?

Stolen memories. Stolen lives. How far will she go to get it all back?

Some women want their husband to remember their anniversary. Allison just wants hers to remember her name. The library of memories she guards may hold the key. If she can return Paul’s memories to the magical books, she just might get her life back, too.

The question is—how far will she go to get what she wants?

If you like small-town settings, love stories that transcend memory, and twisty magical mysteries, you’ll love Libraries & Labradors, the third and final book in the Magic Library Mystery series.

  1. I love cozy mysteries set in bookish settings. I want to read all of these! I have heard of the first three but not the last two. I need to check those out. Thank you for sharing! I hope you have a great weekend!

  2. I love the sound of all of these, anything involved in a library draws me in. I am listening to one series that involves a library and a past librarian ghost and I am really enjoying it.
