Personal shopper Tess O’Neill is everybody’s Go-To Girl. Finding the right thing for a client is a no-brainer. Fixing her own life? That’s a different matter because Tess can’t seem to get over her charming ex-husband. But giving him another chance would mean risking her hard-won independence—and Tess’s heart again.

He was never an ace in life’s deck of cards, and he did break her heart. Still, he’s not the messed-up guy he used to be. How to convince his personal Go-To Girl they still belong together?

Book Review: Sit. Stay. Forever

Dogs do speak. But only to those who know how to listen.

This little book came to me in a flash while I was vacuuming. When I began to weep, I shut off the vacuum and hurried to my computer, where I typed out a draft of the work that became Sit. Stay. Forever. I posted a copy to my Facebook page, and when the reaction of readers equalled my own, I knew I had to publish those verses as a book.

Sometimes small books can have the biggest emotional impact, because the emotion isn’t in the words, it’s in the heart of the reader. The words and illustrations on the page remind us of the precious relationships in our lives and bring us back to an awareness of and appreciation for those beloved friends.

Sit. Stay. Forever is the perfect book for anyone who loves dogs. The hardback comes with a dust jacket and makes a wonderful gift for dog lovers. There’s even a page for the recipient to paste a picture of their beloved canine.

A little book with a powerful impact . . . just like the big little lives that leave their paw prints on our hearts.

Net Galley Review:

This 36 page book says it all for dogs lover. As I recently lost a dog family member (after 13 years) we moved through our grief and adopted another pup from a local shelter. in his honor. Our home is not a home without a dog included. If you are a dog lover or know one buy this book its a little gem… Lisa

Book Treats : English Shortbread cookies

Today’s recipe is inspired by our feature cozy mystery. It’s the Perfect recipe for afternoon tea with friends and a good book discussion.

Why do they call it shortbread?

Shortbread is so named because of its crumbly texture (from an old meaning of the word “short”, as opposed to “long”, or stretchy). The cause of this texture is its high fat content, provided by the butter. … The related word “shortening” refers to any fat that may be added to produce a “short” (crumbly) texture.

  •  cup 8 oz. butter (room temperature)
  • 1/2 cup (2oz/60g)) powdered sugar (sifted)
  • 2 cups (10oz/300g)) all purpose flour
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C) and line a baking tray with parchment paper.
  • In a large bowl cream together the soft butter and sugar with an electric mixer until light inf fluffy.
  • Add in the flour and mix until the dough just comes together.
  • Turn the dough out onto a counter dusted with powdered sugar and gently roll the dough into a long two-by-two-inch log.
  • Wrap the log of cookie dough in plastic wrap and allow it to firm up in the fridge for 30 minutes.
  • Once the dough is firm slice the cookies into 3/4 inch thick rounds. Place each round on your baking tray and bake for 16-18 minutes or until just golden.
  • Allow cooling slightly before transferring to a cooling rack. Once cool the cookies can be stored in an air-tight container for up to 3 days.

Lisa Kitchen tips :

Why do you chill shortbread before baking?

A short stay in the fridge will firm up the cookies and solidify the butter. This will help keep them from spreading too much. Also, it helps concentrate those flavors for your best ever shortbread.

Monday Book Date

Welcome to Monday

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? a place to meet up and share what you have been, and are about to be reading over the week. It’s a great post to organise yourself. It’s an opportunity to visit and comment and er… add to your groaning TBR pile! So welcome in everyone. This meme started on J Kaye’s blog and then was hosted by Sheila from Book Journey. Sheila then passed it on to Kathryn here at The Book Date.

My Last week reading :

  • 2 Garden books
  • 2 Children books
  • 1 Cookbook
  • 2 Romances

From the Library :

I just finished this book .

A riveting new read that will thrill you from #1 New York Times bestselling author Fern Michaels, perfect for fans of Nora Roberts, Rachel Caine, and J.D. Robb.
Ellie Bowman barely remembers the incident that put her into a coma. When she awoke, filled with unease, all she knew for certain was that her boyfriend, Rick, was missing. She knew she needed to get away from her old life and recover in safety. With the proceeds of a video game she helped develop, Ellie starts over in rural Missouri, working from her cottage and trusting no one except her friend and business partner.
Yet even in this quiet small town, it’s impossible to completely isolate herself. Especially when a curious eight-year-old boy, smitten with Ellie’s pup, stops by every day to talk to him over the fence. Little by little, Ellie is being drawn back into the world through the neighbors and community around her, realizing that everyone has their own fears and obstacles to contend with.
But when Ellie hears that Rick has resurfaced, her nightmares return, and with them, small snippets of memory. No one has heard from Rick since before the incident, so why is he back now? Ellie wants to move forward with her life, but first she must find the courage to look into her past, no matter what she finds there . . .

Book thoughts:

Not your typical book from this author 9 This is a thriller) -so I was glad I could read a copy from the library. It’s a very character driven book as Ellie is front and center of the book. I did like the messages about the power of supportive neighbors, trusting yourself, embracing friendship, starting .over, and reaching out to others when you need help. However, the story is slow-building and slow-paced. So glad I grabbed a copy from the Library.

Kindle Unlimited : On my Tablet :

Make sure you check with me and see what I am reading next…. Lisa
